Job Description:
Computational Physics, Inc. is a small business that performs advanced scientific research to characterize radiation properties of the Earth's upper atmosphere and develop new remote sensing techniques for better understanding the upper atmosphere and ionosphere. CPI’s broad work-base also addresses remote sensing of the middle and lower atmospheres, ionospheric effects on signals, data assimilation techniques for global ionospheric specification, and advanced software architectures supporting distributed processing for modeling and simulation.
The intern will work on NASA and/or DoD programs to develop data visualization software, run first-principles atmospheric phenomenology models, and assist with analysis and interpretation of remote sensing data.
Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- IDL (C++ and/or FORTRAN is a plus)
- Knowledge of and/or interest in atmospheric/solar physics
- Strong mathematics
- Familiarity with self-describing data formats (e.g. NetCDF)
- Experience with software development in a Linux environment
- U.S. citizens only
Hourly Rate/Salary:
$15-$20 p/h depending on experience
