Job Description:
We are looking for a Java developer to be part of a dynamic engineering team working on space programs in a variety of roles. This job will focus on the development of a cutting-edge enterprise automation system for controlling earth-orbiting spacecraft and managing the operations center. The position requires a strong working knowledge of Java application development and JEE and the ability to organize and focus your own work while keeping management informed of status and progress. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in the development, documentation, maintenance, evaluation, test, and delivery of software for supporting high-level automation of a multi-spacecraft ground system. The job will require the applicant to participate in all aspects of the software development process. This will include participation in developing requirements, designs, and software for an automation system using Java application servers, relational databases, Java Swing graphical user interfaces, and other technologies.

Hourly Rate/Salary:
$15 p/h

June 1 through August 14

Minimum Requirements:

  • This position requires access to and use of ITAR-controlled technology. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Experience in Java software development, software testing, requirement definition, message-oriented middleware and enterprise service bus concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Java/Swing and graphical user interface development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Perl, bash shell, and other scripting languages.
  • Working knowledge of JEE and Java application servers.
  • Familiarity with JBoss and MySQL.
  • Knowledge of Subversion and other software engineering process tools.
  • Experienced with using multiple software operating systems, particularly Windows and Linux.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft ground systems software and operations.
