Position: Software Engineer Intern

Job Description: Emergent is seeking an intern applicant with experience in software and web-portal development and familiarity with Windows and Linux administration. The selected applicant may work on a project web-portal for use on a NASA Earth science mission or related ground system technologies or may work on integrating 3rd party infrastructure systems for the IT operations. All work is performed at Emergent’s Greenbelt, MD facility. Intern reports to the Senior Software Engineer.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $15 p/h

Start/ End Date: June 2 through mid August

Preferred Major: Computer Science

G.P.A. Requirement: 3.0

Student Qualifications/Skills:

• Knowledge of both Windows and Linux administration
• Familiarity with the software lifecycle: software development, test, deployment.
• Knowledge of Java and HTML or XHTML.
• Some exposure to server-side languages such as JSP, ASP, .NET

Preferred Qualifications

• Passionate about understanding and solving problems with technology.
• Ability to learn the skills necessary on-the-job to solve problems.
• Self-starter and ability to work under minimal supervision.
