Internship Position: Java Developer Intern

Most work is done onsite in our Rockville office where we have a business casual environment (with jeans on Fridays) and a new regulation foosball table with an annual company-wide tournament. Job Description:
- Provides intermediate level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of web-based applications
- Translates Use Case Requirements, technical specifications and design into code for new or enhancement projects for internal and external clients
- Develops code that reuses objects, is well structured, includes sufficient comments, and is easy to maintain
- Writes programs, ad hoc queries, and reports
- Familiar with Configuration Management methodologies and tools, including CVS
- Follows software development methodology and follows architecture standards
- Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout life cycle to identify issues/defects; participates in other meetings, such as those for use case creation
- Formally documents issues/defects and supports issues/defects resolution until closure
- Use of design patterns for design and architecture of system components (e.g. session faade, service locator, etc.)
- Evaluation and selection of new open source frameworks to improve development process/products
Direct Experience with the following Language/Methodology:
- Java/J2EE (EJBs, JMS, JAXB, JDBC, JNDI, RMI) required
- JSP & servlet development required
- Java Script recommended
- Object Oriented Development required
- Struts required
- XML, XML Schema, XSLT required
- PL/SQL recommended
Hourly Rate/Salary: $15.00 to $20.00 per hour depending on experience
Start/ End Date: June 1, 2008 through August 22 2008
Preferred Major: Computer Science
G.P.A. Requirement: 3.0
Student Qualifications/Skills: Must have completed junior year and have relevant course-work and projects in Java and/or J2EE.
