Internship Position: Operations Research Intern

Job Description: The Intelligence and Information Solutions business Unit currently has an opening for an Operations Research Intern.

The Decision Support and Analysis Center (DSAC) is an organization within SAIC that is involved with the development, application, and analysis of quantitative and process-oriented tools, techniques, and procedures for the purpose of solving problems faced by decision makers of public and private organizations. More specifically, concepts from mathematics, probability, statistics, networks, architectures, forecasting, and computing are adapted and applied to the identification, formulation, solution, validation, implementation, and control of administrative or decision-making problems. We are seeking an intern to assist in our decision support activities for the summer of 2008, with the potential to extend the internship into long-term employment opportunities with SAIC. Work will be performed in Hanover, MD.

Education: DSAC is seeking a rising junior, or senior, pursuing a technical degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field.

Required Skills: Candidates must be proficient in at least one of the following computer programming languages: Java, C++, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). The intern will be submitted for, and must meet requirements to obtain a Top Secret security clearance with full scope polygraph.

Desired Skills: Experience with operations research and decision analysis methods such as linear programming, simulation, and cost/benefit analysis. Familiarity with basic financial analysis and accounting concepts.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $17-$20 per hour

Start/End Date: May 08-August 08

Preferred Major: CS, Mathematics

G.P.A. Requirement: minimum 3.0
