CMPS Recognition Ceremony

All graduates are required to RSVP

STUDENT REGALIA AND ANNOUNCEMENTS: 
The University Book Center is the official supplier of commencement regalia for the University of Maryland.

Caps, gowns, hoods, tassels, invitations, diploma frames, and other commemorative accessories are available in the University Book Center.

Students must purchase their regalia. (There is no option for students to rent regalia)

ASSEMBLY LOCATION:
Students should assemble by 8:00 a.m. in the lower level of the Reckord Armory. Marshals will be present to organize the procession. Graduates must pick up a name card, which will be given to the Reader of Names during the ceremony.

Ph.D. Students
Please make arrangements with your advisor to be hooded during the ceremony. If your advisor is not available, you can ask another member of your committee; or your department chair will hood you.

Undergraduate Students with Honors
If you are an undergraduate student graduating with Latin honors (summa, magna and cum laude), or CMPS department honors, you will receive a gold tassel and honor stole from the college. Students will be notified by email when available.

GPA Ranges for Latin Honors: May 2009

Summa Cum Laude: 4.000 - 4.000
Magna Cum Laude: 3.999 - 3.956
Cum Laude: 3.955 - 3.891

PARKING: 
CMPS Guests should park at the Regents Drive Garage, then catch a shuttle bus which will drop riders near the Reckord Armory.

Shuttle buses will make brief stops at each commencement site on their route beginning one hour before the scheduled start until approximately one hour after the conclusion.

If you require special transportation assistance, please make arrangements by calling Department of Transportation Services at 301.314.7271.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETING: 
The campus-wide Commencement ceremony will be closed captioned on JUMBO screens in the Comcast Center. ASL Interpretation is available upon request. Contact Disability Support Services at 301.314.7682 to arrange for interpretation at the main ceremony or at specific college ceremonies.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS OF RECKORD ARMORY:
The elderly or persons in wheel chairs should enter from the rear of the Armory. Please note that rest rooms are all located in the lower level and the building has no elevator. Restrooms are accessible next door in the Mitchell Building on the ground level. Staff will be available to help you locate these facilities.

PHOTOGRAPHY
