- John
D. Gannon Scholarship Fund
The John D. Gannon Scholarship Fund has been established
in honor of the former chair of the Computer Science
Department who died in 1999. It commemorates John's
extraordinary commitment to the students and education
at the University of Maryland. Contributions may
be made by sending a check made out to "The
University of Maryland Foundation, Inc." to
the Department of Computer Science, c/o Ms. Janice
Jastrzebksi, A.V. Williams Building, University
of Maryland, College Park, Maryland 20742.
- Leon A Herreid Fellowship
Paul Herreid is a donor to the University of Maryland
Foundation through which he created an endowed
fund in memory of his son, Leon A. Herreid. The
gift provides scholarships to physics graduate
students.
- Jack and Rita G. Minker
Fellowship
A gift to the University of Maryland Foundation
from computer science professor Jack Minker who
created an endowed fund that supports a full-time
graduate fellowship in computer science.
- Dr. John C. Wang Memorial
Scholarship
This scholarship is dedicated to the memory of
John Wang, an alum and astronomy professor. His family established
the fund after Wang's death in 1998.
- Alford L Ward Professorship
CMPS has an endowed professorship due to the generosity
of scientist and alumni, Alford L. Ward. Begun
in 1986, the Alford L. Ward Professorship supports
a faculty member in semiconductor physics. It
is currently held by Richard Webb who came from
the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center.
