CMPS Student Community for Outreach, Retention and Excellence
CMPS S.C.O.R.E. is a student community committed to the recruitment, retention, and graduation of Black, Latino/a, and Native American students in the College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences. The members of this organization are from diverse backgrounds and share a commitment to creating a supportive community where students are able to network with other CMPS students, engage in internship and mentoring opportunities, participate in academic support programs and embrace the surrounding campus and local community through outreach activities.

Association of Women in Computing (AWC)
The AWC is a group of women in the Computer Science department who are interested in encouraging women to enter this area of study and to join the ranks of women in the field. In present years the number of women in the field has been declining. It is our purpose, through the establishment of a support system including mentoring, group tutoring, and study group formation, to end this decline. AWC's activities include social events, company speakers and seminars. More information can be obtained by emailing a representative at awc@cs.umd.edu.

Women in Math (WIM)
WIM is an organization dedicated to serving the needs of women mathematicians at UMCP. Members organize a number of events which include monthly luncheons and biweekly graduate women discussions. Interested students and the university community can obtain information through an electronic newsletter and organizational website. These two resources contain information regarding scholarships, conferences, career opportunities, and pertinent women issues.
