Aziz Mathematics Scholarship

Mathematics major. The Aziz scholarship is the department's highest award of mathematical excellence for a non-graduating math major.

Edgar Krahn Scholarship in Mathematics

Secondary Education - Mathematics (SEM) Scholarship

Double major in Secondary Education and Mathematics

Class Standing:

Senior (apply in the spring before the year in which the semester
of student teaching is expected)

Maximum of 2 per year

Eligibility:

Overall GPA of at least 3.0; interest in becoming a secondary
school mathematics teacher. Award is based on merit. Scholarship goal
is to support promising students in their pursuit of teaching mathematics
in secondary school.

Application:

Application forms may be picked up at the Undergraduate
Office - Mathematics Building - Room 1117. Application requires
a short essay explaining why the student wishes to become a secondary
school mathematics teacher.

 

 

Strauss Scholarship

Eligibility:

Full-time enrollment the previous year; completed 70 credits by Spring of the year award is to be made; overall G.P.A. of at least 3.2.; G.P.A. in math at least 3.5.; Interest in mathematics shown beyond the usual curriculum.

Strauss Teaching Assistants

Eligibility:

Completed MATH 410 or MATH 350 with a grade of B or better; overall G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher; an interview and final selection is based on both academic credentials and projected ability to function effectively in the classroom.

The Department encourages mathematics research activity for its strong students, for example, through the MATH 489 "research interaction teams". Students who are involved in such activity, or who have definite arrangements with a faculty member for such activity this Summer or Fall will be given preference.
